•• To register your copy, run the program, go under the apple menu and select “Register me…” You may print the registration form from here.
•1. If you want to display the time zones, go under the file menu and select 'Set time zones…' . You will then be prompted to set the your time zone (Eastern, Central, etc.) to be displayed on the map. As long as your system clock is set to the correct time, the different time zones will also be correct.
For example, if it's 5:17 pm where I am (eastern time) then the time shown for Wyoming will be 3:17 pm, Seattle 2:17 pm, New Brunswick 6:17 pm etc. (I'm rambling, you get the idea!).
•2. Make sure that after you have entered a code or city/state name that you hit return or enter prior to showing the map. This way the map will display the location of the area code correctly, otherwise it will show you the location of the last code selected, or no location at all.
•3. If you wish to make the size of the application reserve a little less memory, feel free to do so, however, I have found that 150K is about the minimum required to display the map on a 256 color monitor (I am running 6 megs of RAM). To decrease the memory size, select the application, (click on it once), go up to the file menu and select 'get info', then you'll see a window with some information about the application and 2 (3 with sys 7.1) boxes at the bottom, one with the suggested memory size, and the second with the current size. Decrease the current size as appropriate for your computer by trial and error/ this simply relates to the amount of memory you have available. Don't worry, you can always increase the size if you've made it too small. If the map isn't drawn when you display the map window, then you probably have NOT reserved enough memory.
•4. If you have a grayscale monitor and you can't see the lines in the map, set your 'monitors' control panel setting to 'black & white'.

• I hope to have the option to create/add your own cities soon.
• NEW: 10 entry memory: ACF will remember up to 10 entries that you may page through. For example, if you type in CA, or California, you will get a list of area codes for California. If you're looking for a particular city, you don't have to type in CA over and over, you can simply return to that entry by using the “<<” and “>>” buttons to obtain a new code from the list.
• New: Accepts state abbreviations (postal codes).
• New: Postal codes dialog. Use these abbreviations as opposed to typing in the full state name.
• I removed the seconds from the clocks to eliminate flicker, and because some people found it annoying.
• New: 3d buttons.
• New: Backward and Forward 'Paging' buttons. (“<<”, “>>”)
• New: Preferences file so that your time zone will only
have to be set the first time you use AreaCodeFinder™. In system 6.x it will reside in the system folder, and must stay there if you want it to be read the next time you launch the application.
In system 7.x it will reside in the 'preferences' folder, and must also stay there. If the preferences file is moved or renamed, the next time you set the 'time zones' a new file will be created.
• New: 'Windows' menu that allows you to bring the map or ACF window to the front instead of having to drag the windows around. Command keys are also enabled.
• The menus are changed to fit the activities, ie., 'Clocks On', 'Clocks Off'.
• Many little redrawing/updating problems were fixed.
